This is what I am working on and want to put into this elective:
Cryptography:
The art of writing or solving codes.
I think crypto design is a tool to visualise messenges and to share it to the people you want. It's a secret language. It is private. It is personal.
This movie is amazing, not the part when they try to decode the code.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5CjKEFb-sMThe machine from that movie:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enigma_machine
I am more interested in secret lanuages, one I knew already is the runic alphabet, used today by wiccans (religion) and sometimes seen in fantasy videogames and movies.
Here is a clip from a great BBC documentary, tlking about Vinking runes:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwCvYkJFD4U
OK...
Here is a TEDtalk on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAAflrIp__E
So crypto is about sending data to someone else.When it comes to computers, it is about the art of randomness and keeping yourself safe.But to me this sounds like spreading fear into the world. I am NOT interested in this.
So the idea of wanting to share something secret to someone else sounds romantic. I recently was looking at mail art, started in the 1970s. I think it would be interesting to create something analogue, something you have to do or figure out fisically and not on the computer.
This wikipedia has a list with all contrcted languages and when it happened and by who and more!

Listen to this (Loxian, language by Roma Ryan):

back to writtings (not only spoken language, the idea is to send a written messege), I came across:
* a book about Tarot (alking about the meaning of hidden symbols)
* invisible ink
crypto playtime for kids, but still good examples:
